INDIANS IN SYDNEY

WINTER DRIVE

Heartfelt Gratitude from Indians in Sydney to Indians in Sydney: A Night of Warmth and Compassion. Last night was a night we will never forget. Thanks to your incredible generosity, our winter drive collected approximately $920. We spent around $800 on quilts and $200 on biryani to support those in need in Sydney’s CBD. The impact of your donations was truly heartwarming.
We ventured into the city with our hearts full and quilts in hand, ready to offer some warmth to those facing the bitter cold without a home. The experience was humbling and profound. We spoke to many individuals, each with their own unique story, reminding us that no journey of homelessness is the same. Behind every face, there is a story of resilience, hardship, and hope.
Our sincere gratitude goes out to everyone who donated. Your kindness brought countless blessings, and you are part of those blessings. We also extend a special thank to the Lal Qila Surry Hills restaurant that generously donated biryani, allowing us to distribute warm meals along with the quilts.
A huge shoutout to our friends, Rhys James and Syed Mazhar Rehman. It was truly special to spend the evening together, especially after we decided to cancel our plans for the big Bollywood concert. Your support and camaraderie made the night even more meaningful.
As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Last night, we found ourselves in the smiles, gratitude, and stories of those we helped. We are immensely proud to be able to give back to our community, even if it was just a small gesture.

Empowering Change:

A Recap of Our Domestic Violence Awareness Event

On June 30th, we gathered for a deeply impactful event dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence. Hosted by the Indian in Sydney Facebook group, this event brought together a diverse group of speakers and supporters to address a critical issue that affects many families in our community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who made this event possible. Special thanks go to our speakers: Tanya Sahi, Mother Malini, and Andrew Gason. Their insights and personal stories illuminated the harsh realities of domestic violence and provided invaluable support to those who are struggling. A special mention also goes to Poompavai for organizing such a meaningful event and ensuring its success.

The event was held at the Church of Scientology, whose generosity in providing the venue was crucial. We also appreciate the delicious food and warm hospitality that made the event comfortable and welcoming for everyone involved.
