At Indians in Sydney, we believe that true strength lies in our diversity—and that our shared future can only be built on understanding, respect, and collective action. As we prepare for our special invite-only interfaith event, The Shared Future, we’re humbled and honored to introduce the incredible panel of interfaith and community leaders joining us at NSW Parliament House on May 14, 2025.

This historic gathering brings together thought leaders from diverse religious, cultural, and civic backgrounds—each a changemaker in their own right—committed to peace, dialogue, and social cohesion.

✡️ Rabbi Danny Yaffe

CBDChabad Sydney

Rabbi Danny Yaffe, alongside Rebbetzin Sara-Tova Yaffe, leads CBDChabad—a vibrant hub of learning and connection, welcoming people of all faiths and backgrounds. A passionate educator and community builder, Rabbi Yaffe is dedicated to bridging divides and nurturing values-based leadership through dialogue, education, and shared purpose.

✝️ Bishop Tony Percy

Auxiliary Bishop, Archdiocese of Sydney | Parish Priest, St Gregory’s Queanbeyan

Recently consecrated as Bishop, Tony Percy is a deeply respected theologian and educator with decades of pastoral service across NSW. With a doctorate in Sacred Theology and a heart for community outreach, Bishop Percy is a powerful advocate for compassion, understanding, and interfaith cooperation.

🕉️ Pandit Jatin Kumar Bhatt

Senior Priest, Sri Mandir

One of the most respected Hindu priests in Australia, Pandit Jatin Kumar Bhatt has dedicated over two decades to educating the community on the significance of Hindu rituals and spiritual values. His calm presence, deep knowledge, and commitment to unity have made him a guiding light for many.

A medical professional and Islamic scholar, Dr. Alsamail blends faith and service seamlessly. With a background in Islamic theology and a decade-long dedication to youth mentorship and interfaith work, he champions harmony through education, healthcare, and compassion.

✝️ Rev. Dr. Manas Ghosh

Minister, St John’s Uniting Church Wahroonga | Interfaith Advocate

Raised in India and now ministering in NSW, Rev. Dr. Ghosh brings a lived experience of multiculturalism and multifaith dialogue. With academic credentials across science and theology, he’s been a vital voice in promoting unity, peace, and shared values in diverse communities for over 25 years.

CEO, Community Migrant Resource Centre (CMRC)

With 25+ years of experience in social work and community advocacy, Melissa Monteiro is a tireless champion for refugee, migrant, and vulnerable communities. Under her leadership, CMRC has become a beacon of support, empowerment, and social change in NSW.

A sportsman, educator, and finalist for the Dr. G K Harinath OAM Sports Medal, Gurnam Singh’s journey from humble beginnings in India to mentoring hundreds of young athletes in NSW is truly inspiring. He embodies how sport can transcend barriers and build inclusive communities.

Executive Director, Affinity Intercultural Foundation

A key figure in Australia’s interfaith movement, Ahmet Polat leads initiatives that cultivate understanding and lasting friendships across cultures. Through his roles at Affinity and the Sydney Peace Foundation, he works to create shared platforms for dialogue and peace.

Making history as the first Indian-born MP for Liverpool, Charishma Kaliyanda is a trailblazer for equity, mental health, and public service. As Parliamentary Secretary for Customer Service, Digital Government, Emergency Services, and Youth Justice, her leadership reflects the vibrant contributions of multicultural Australians.
